In a first, a Psychological First Aid (PFA) training programme was conducted for over 250 healthcare professionals at the IDH in association with the Ministry of Health and conducted by Intercontinental Institute of Human Resource Management.
The internationally-recognized peer-support training module was conducted in collaboration with Sensei International and will be expanded and continued as a sustainable healthcare intervention by Contingency Intelligence & Response Agency.
Famed global training guru Omar Khan led the inaugural PFA programme. Over 250 healthcare professionals received a certificate on completion of the PFA programme and will now be able to provide invaluable peer support during dynamic events like the rampaging pandemic. “The Covid-19 pandemic has brought to the focus of the importance of conserving our healthcare professionals on the frontlines and well-thought-out interventions of well-being would ensure we protect a vital national asset, said Mr. Ranjeewa Kulatunga, Chair of IIHRM.
The special peer-centric Psychological First-Aid training programme will set the tone for a series of societal interventions in the wake of the Covid-19 with IIHRM and CIRA working in tandem to launch several groundbreaking initiatives.
